Grade: _____________     Student ID: ____________________     Effective Date: ___________________

Purpose. A hybrid schedule allows a student to complete online coursework while also attending one or more seated classes at Carthage High School (CHS) or the Carthage Technical Center (CTC). Approval is contingent upon the student and parent/guardian accepting the expectations below.

Online Program Requirement. To participate in a hybrid schedule, the student must be enrolled in the district’s approved online provider, Edgenuity. Students enrolled through another virtual or MOCAP provider are not eligible for a hybrid schedule that includes seated courses at CHS or CTC.

Student and Family Responsibilities

  • Transportation: The parent/guardian and student are responsible for all transportation connected to the hybrid schedule.
  • Campus access: The student may be on campus only during the class periods in which the student is enrolled, unless the student has prior approval and is under the direct supervision of a staff member.
  • Arrival and departure: The family is responsible for ensuring the student arrives and leaves campus according to the approved schedule. The student may not remain on campus during an unscheduled period.
  • Schedule changes: Any change to the approved schedule must be arranged through the counseling office and approved by administration before it begins.
  • School expectations: While on campus or participating in a school program, the student remains subject to all school rules, attendance requirements, and the student code of conduct.

Consequences for Being on Campus During an Unscheduled Period

  1. First offense: The student will receive a written warning, and the parent/guardian will be contacted and required to pick up the student. If the parent/guardian cannot pick up the student, the student will report to ISS until the student’s next scheduled seated class block or scheduled departure time.
  2. Second offense: The student will be assigned ISS during the student’s scheduled seated class block(s) and the block during which the student was on campus without authorization.
  3. Third offense: The student will be removed from all seated courses and will remain enrolled in the online program only. The student will receive an F in each seated course from which the student is removed, consistent with dropping courses after the established deadline.

Acknowledgment. By signing below, we confirm that we have reviewed the approved schedule and understand the online program, transportation, supervision, arrival/departure, and behavioral expectations associated with hybrid scheduling. We further understand that a third violation will result in removal from all seated courses and a failing grade in each of those courses.
