Intro to CTE (Career and Technical Education)
9th grade - .5 Practical Art credit
This course will be an introduction to career and technical education programs. Students will be exposed to computer science, health science, machining and manufacturing, agriculture, engineering, carpentry, criminal justice, and family and consumer sciences. This broad introduction class will help students find a program that perhaps they may choose as a career choice after high school. -
ELL Intro to CTE (Career and Technical Education)
9th-12th grade - 1 Practical Art credit, Full year

Introduction to Industrial Trades
9th, 10th Grade - .5 Practical Art credit
This is an introductory course preparing students who are interested in machining, construction, robotics, and manufacturing. Students will engage in project based learning lessons with hands on activities to reinforce the content. Units of student include industrial shop safety, math specific to measurement, the applications of precision measurement tools, manufacturing processes, materials and their applications, mechanical fasteners, manufacturing mechanics, basic electrical circuits and measurement, basic blueprints/schematic reading and drawing. -
Machine Technology 1
10th, 11th, 12th Grade – 2 Practical Art credits
This course provides classroom instruction and lab experiences related to metalworking. It focuses on the operation of equipment such as the lathe, milling machines, grinders, drilling machines, precision measuring instruments, and hand tools. Blueprint reading and math are important parts of this course. Students who enroll for this course should enjoy working with machines and making metal projects. -
Machine Technology 2
11th, 12th Grade – 2 Practical Art credits
This course includes advanced instruction machining metal. The course focuses on milling machines, boring and drilling, the use of surface grinders, vertical and horizontal boring and drilling machines, basic study of CNC equipment, and job seeking. Students in this program can qualify to take the NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills) Measurement, Materials and Safety Exam and become certified. -
Computer Aided Manufacturing
10th, or 11th Grade - 1 Practical Art Credit
Prerequisite: Intro to Industrial Trades, Intro to Engineering Design, Drafting 1, Intro to Welding
In this course students will engage in project-based learning lessons with hands on activities to reinforce the content. Units of study will include 2D and 3D CAD, metrology/3D scanning, reverse engineering, 3d printing, laser engraving/cutting, CNC plasma cutting, basic CNC tube fabrication, robotic welding, and basic CNC machine turning and milling. Students will have the opportunity to earn industry related credentials pertaining to safety, industrial robotics, and CNC machining. -
CNC Machining
1th Grade. 12th grade - 1 Practical Art Credit
Prerequisite: Machine Technology 1, Computer Aided Manufacturing
In this course students build upon the knowledge and skills obtained in the computer aided manufacturing or machine technology courses and progress to using computer aided machining software to program milling and turning operations. Additionally, students will complete hands on lessons in machine safety, set-up, operation, and maintenance of CNC milling and turning machines. Students will complete project based lessons to machine parts simulating agricultural, automotive, and aerospace components. Students will have the opportunity to earn an industry related credentials specific to CNC machine operation. -
Welding- Introduction or Advanced (placement based on instructor approval)
11th, 12th Grade – .5 Practical Art credit
This course focuses on the physical properties of metals as well as the study and practice of welding. Students learn plasma arc cutting and electrode selection. They also study welding techniques (arc welding, mig welding). In addition, students study safety issues and learn to read blueprints. -
Industrial Robotics/Automation and Maintenance - offered 22-23
11th, or 12th Grade - 1 Practical Art Credit
Prerequisite: CNC Machining, Computer Aided Manufacturing
In this course students build upon the knowledge obtained in the Computer Aided Manufacturing course and expand into topics related to Industrial Maintenance and Robotics in the automated manufacturing environment . Students will learn theory and complete hands-on, project-based tasks representative of those encountered in the manufacturing factory setting including: Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), automated robotic programming, robotic vision systems, as well as troubleshooting and maintenance of conveyor systems. Students will have the opportunity to earn industry related credentials pertaining to safety, and industrial robotics operation and maintenance.
