Troy joined the faculty of Pitt State in the fall of 1998. In 2003 he was appointed Director of Broadcasting. Under his guidance, students have received awards at both the state and national level for their work in audio and video production. Dr. Comeau’s class in Sports Broadcasting has consistently placed as a national finalist for the Best Live Sports Production in the Collegiate Broadcasting Student awards. The Kansas Association of Broadcasters has recognized his students with several awards as well. “It is wonderful to be recognized nationally for what we do." Comeau said. "I've always felt that students can get involved early at Pittsburg State and that experience pays off. To be honored with some of the big name schools from around the country shows how good our students are." Comeau was also recognized in 2002 by the 9th district American Advertising Federation of Omaha, Nebraska as the educator of the year. This award recognizes excellence in advertising scholarship in the district. Three of his students have gone on to work at ESPN and one is currently in Community Relations at the Phoenix Suns. Troy is a champion of PSU and is a leader in the communication department. Colleague Candy Noltensmeyer said he is an effective teacher “because he is very knowledgeable, he really listens to the students and he has the ability to interact on their level.” Troy and his wife Lorie have one son, Jesse, who is a 7th grader at Carthage Jr. High School. An avid Kansas City Chief’s Fan, Troy also enjoys competitive softball. Troy is a member of the Carthage Tigers Booster Club and he has graciously donated his time and talent to our Alumni Association. Some of his work will be appearing on this website in the future, as we feature distinguished alumni. Please check back for updates. |
