Three Carthage Odyssey of the Mind teams qualify for World Finals!

Congratulations to the Fairview Elementary, Carthage Junior High and Carthage High School Odyssey of the Mind teams on qualifying for World Finals competition!

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program.

18 Carthage students and five coaches will travel to World Finals at Michigan State University on May 26. In addition to a grant of $100 per person from the Carthage R-9 School Foundation, several fundraisers are planned to raise the $500 per person needed to attend.

Please help our Odyssey of the Mind teams by supporting the following:

May 1

City-wide Rummage Sale and Biscuits & Gravy Feed - 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM at Fairview Elementary School. Donations of rummage sale items will be accepted at Fairview school from 4 – 7:30 PM on Friday, April 30.  Donations of food supplies and paper goods for the Biscuits & Gravy Feed are also welcomed.

May 1-6

QUARTER MANIA! Star Lanes, 219 E. 3rd, Carthage.  Everything’s a quarter….shoe rental, each game of bowling, chips and soft drinks!  There will be a cover charge of a minimum of a $5 donation. 7-10 PM.

Wood Plaque Sales

School spirit wood plaques are available for $10 each. Choose from Tigers/Paw, CHS/paw, CJHS/paw, or school name/paw. Custom plaques (up to 8 letters) are $15 each.
